We found 1 Florida-licensed mold professional with a DBPR license address in Hastings, in St. JohnsCounty: 1 mold assessor and 1 mold remediator, each matched to a current, active license. Many also work in surrounding cities, so we list other St. Johns County licensees below.
Assessor first, remediator second. An assessor finds the mold and the moisture source; a remediator removes it. Florida law generally bars the same person or company from doing both on one structure within 12 months, so hire them separately, fix the water problem, and check each license on DBPR.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check that a Hastings mold assessor or remediator is licensed?
Search the person's name or license number on the Florida DBPR license lookup. Mold assessor numbers start with MRSA and mold remediator numbers with MRSR. Look for a current, active status. See how to verify a Florida mold license.
What is the difference between a mold assessor and a mold remediator?
Under section 468.8411, Florida Statutes, a mold assessor performs or directly supervises a mold assessment (sampling and evaluating data to find the origin, identity, location and extent of mold growth), and a mold remediator removes, cleans, sanitizes or otherwise treats mold. Both definitions apply to mold growth of more than 10 square feet. Read our assessor vs. remediator guide.
What does a mold assessment cover?
It usually includes a building history and inspection, moisture checks and, where useful, sampling, leading to a written report. Ask whether you will get a written remediation protocol that a remediator can quote against, and whether the assessor will do a post-remediation check. EPA notes that if mold is visible, sampling is usually unnecessary.
Should I fix the leak before mold remediation?
Yes, the moisture source has to be fixed or the mold can return. EPA says you must clean up the mold and fix the water problem, and recommends drying water-damaged areas and items within 24–48 hours to prevent mold growth. See mold after water damage.
Will insurance pay for mold remediation?
It depends on your policy and the cause of the damage, so read your policy and ask your insurer or agent. Document the damage with photos, keep the assessment report, remediation contract and invoices, and keep records of discarded items. CDC suggests photographing discarded items for insurance claims.
